Chatham fire in a shot at goal against
Dulwich on Saturday Picture: Peter Still
Chatham's struggles continued with
a disappointing 2-0 Ryman League Division 1 South defeat at home to
Dulwich on Saturday.
Town have now lost three of their
last four league games and four out of five at Maidstone Road
while, more worryingly for boss Alex O’Brien, they have failed to
score in five of their last seven home matches.
Chatham spurned a host of chances
before falling to two penalties. Ray Powell had the best of the
early opportunities, the ball falling to him in the box on 10
minutes but the frontman blazed over.
The first goal arrived five minutes
before the break as Ben Payne dived into a tackle in the box and
failed to connect with the ball, conceding a spot-kick.
After Brad Potter had headed one
chance onto the bar and another over the top, the second goal
arrived 15 minutes from the end when Ashley Probets tangled with a
Hamlet striker in the box and the referee awarded a second
spot-kick to the visitors.
O’Brien said: "We lost to two penalties and that was pretty much
all they threatened us, to be honest. It was very
disappointing."
