Dartford Messenger Celebrates 10th
Birthday
Today marks the
10th birthday of KM Group's Dartford Messenger, a title that
has, together with its companion title Gravesend
Messenger, won many
awards since its launch.*
Editors Bob Dimond, Sandra Hembery and Denise Eaton have,
over the past decade, guided the publication to huge
success. In 2009 the Gravesend & Dartford Messenger
(Series) won Weekly Newspaper of the Year (Paid) at the EDF Energy
London and the South East Media Awards.
Only last week, The title won the "Canterbury
Jack Campaign of the Year Award" at the Shepherd Neame
Journalist of the Year awards.**
Currently the most actively purchased community
newspaper in this part of Kent, Gravesend & Dartford Messenger
(Series) has an ABC audited circulation of 6,028 (Jan – June
2009) and a JICREG readership of 17,053 (Jan 2010).
To commemorate the publication of the
first issue on February 2 2000, reporter Nick Lillitos has written
a reflective feature and readers are being invited to share
their own memories and thoughts of Dartford over the part
decade.
The paper will also feature special
promotions throughout the month. Readers will be offered £5 off
tickets to see the Chinese State Circus, a free 10th
anniversary rose, the chance to win a meal for four and tickets to
a Charlton Athletic game and much more.

have amassed an impressive 17 awards in the past four
years.
** The award was for the "Everyone Counts"
campaign which raised £200,000 in two months to save the
Ellenor Lions Hospice.
