Dartford Messenger Celebrates 10th Birthday

Today marks the 10th birthday of KM Group's Dartford Messenger, a title that has, together with its companion title Gravesend Messenger, won many awards since its launch.*

Editors Bob Dimond, Sandra Hembery and Denise Eaton have, over the past decade, guided the publication to huge success.  In 2009 the Gravesend & Dartford Messenger (Series) won Weekly Newspaper of the Year (Paid) at the EDF Energy London and the South East Media Awards.

Only last week, The title won the "Canterbury Jack Campaign of the Year Award" at the Shepherd Neame Journalist of the Year awards.**

Currently the most actively purchased community newspaper in this part of Kent, Gravesend & Dartford Messenger (Series) has an ABC audited circulation of 6,028 (Jan – June 2009) and a JICREG readership of 17,053 (Jan 2010).

To commemorate the publication of the first issue on February 2 2000, reporter Nick Lillitos has written a reflective feature and readers are being invited to share their own memories and thoughts of Dartford over the part decade.

The paper will also feature special promotions throughout the month. Readers will be offered £5 off tickets to see the Chinese State Circus, a free 10th anniversary rose, the chance to win a meal for four and tickets to a Charlton Athletic game and much more.

* The Gravesend and Dartford Messengers have amassed an impressive 17 awards in the past four years.

** The award was for the "Everyone Counts" campaign which raised £200,000 in two months to save the Ellenor Lions Hospice.
