Dover Athletic's Blue Square South promotion
push is in danger of coming off the rails after
relegation-threatened Worcester won 2-0 at Crabble on Tuesday night
to complete an unlikely double over Andy Hessenthaler's side.
The visitors were worthy winners in the end, despite Dover
having the better of the first half, and secured the win thanks to
goals from Marc McGregor on 62 minutes and Rob Elvins five minutes
from time.
The win left the Whites in eighth, four points off the playoff
places, although some of the teams above them have played a game
more.
In Ryman League Premier Division Dartford got
back to winning ways with a 1-0 at Maidstone
United.
Lee Burns smashed the winner from a Ryan Hayes cross after just
10 minutes to restore their lead at the top of the table to 11
points with four games in hand.
Maidstone have only scored once in four games and fell to 17th,
just two places and four points outside the relegation zone.
Margate boosted their survival hopes with a 2-1
win over promotion-chasing Tooting and Mitcham - their first at
Hartsdown Park since October 3.
New boss Iain O'Connell's first win in charge was secured by a
69th-minute winner from debutant striker Leroy Huggins,
newly-acquired from VCD Athletic.
Sam Jones had opened the scoring for Gate before the visitors
levelled before the break.
Gate remain eight points from safety and bottom of the table,
with 12 games remaining.
Ryman League Division 1 South leaders Folkestone
Invicta marched on with 11th 1-0 win of the season, this
time against Eastbourne Town at Buzzlines Stadium.
A second-goal in as many games from new signing Brendon Cass on
51 minutes gave Invicta their 22nd win from 30 games, though
nearest challengers Croydon Athletic overcame Whitstable
Town 3-1 to stay a point behind Invicta with two games in
hand.
Whitstable were 2-0 down before Dan Stubbs pulled one back on 57
minutes and remain third-bottom, but Ashford - who lie a place and
three points below them - now have two games in hand.
Sittingbourne's push for a play-off place
stuttered with a 3-2 defeat to Burgess Hill Town at Bourne
Park.
Carl Dent cancelled out an early opener on 12 minutes but Hill
had gone 3-1 ahead before Tom Bradbrook pulled one back in the
final minute.
Seventh-placed Bourne are now five points off the top-five, but
still have two games in hand on some of their rivals.
