Charlton's Deon Burton

Charlton maintained their 100 per cent start to their League 1 season with victory on the road at Hartlepool on Saturday.

First-half goals from Deon Burton and skipper Nicky Bailey secured a 2-0 win for Phil Parkinson's side at Victoria Park and left them second in the table.

Burton opened the scoring in the 24th minute when he kept his composure to lob ex-Gillingham keeper Scott Flinders after capitalising on a weak back header.

Bailey made the points safe just three minutes later when he got on the end of Therry Racon's cross to head past Flinders.

Charlton: Elliot, Richardson, Youga, Llera (Solly 90), Semedo, Dailly, Bailey, Shelvey (Gray 90), Racon, Sam, Burton. Subs not used: Randolph, Wagstaff, Spring, McLeod, Fleetwood.
