A man who was found collapsed in an alleyway
this morning has died, despite efforts to save him.
Passers-by discovered the man, believed to be in his 40s, in an
alleyway off Ingram Road in Gillingham just after 8am today
(Thursday).
Student Kelvin Munson was in a newsagents on Ingram Road when a
woman rushed into the shop to tell him about the collapsed man.
The 19-year-old, who was on his way to college
in Maidstone, called the ambulance, who gave him
instructions on how to perform CPR.
Mr Munson, who lives in Speedwell Close, said: "I was buying a
drink to take to college when someone ran in saying we needed to
call an ambulance because she didn't have a phone. I did so and
then ran out to help.
"A woman who was driving past got out of the car and did
resuscitation, as I've hurt my hand and couldn't.
"We couldn't find a pulse but the ambulance arrived within a few
minutes."
The man, who is believed to be from Gillingham, was
taken to Medway Maritime Hospital, where he was pronounced
dead.
Police were called but are not treating the death as
suspicious.
